Anniversary Trip... Part 1

For our anniversary we decided to go to Washington DC. Philip's sister and her husband live in Alexandria, VA along with their cute daughter, Emsleigh (seen below). So it seemed like a great place to take a vacation and to visit family at the same time. I have never been anywhere near the East Coast before and couldn't wait to see a huge part of our nation's history. Philip took a school trip to DC and has spent the past 6 years telling me about it and all of the cool things out there- needless to say we were both way excited to go!

She is so stinkin' cute! She is so active and just talks and talks.

Uncle Phee and Emsleigh

First stop.. Mt. Vernon

How pretty is this place? It was so crazy to imagine Washington being there. This piece of land is so huge and just gorgeous.

Waiting to take the mansion tour

View from Washington's backyard of the Potomac River. When can I move in?

 Washington's Tomb
Yup by the time we finished our tour of the mansion and saw Washington's tomb it was raining cats and dogs. Thus why I rocked the poodle hair in the rest of the pictures.

My incredibly hot husband!

I loved how green everything was there. I was completely surprised. I expected more of city environment.
Next stop... Arlington Cemetery. Can I just say seeing this place in real life is one of the best experiences I've ever had. I am so proud to be an American and to know how many people have given up their life for my freedom. Really going to DC makes you just so proud and honored to live in America.. Okay sorry back to Arlington.
I'm pretty sure Erin told me that all of these headstones right here are mostly unknown soldiers.
 Just some interesting headstones

View from Robert E. Lee's house (also known as the Arlington House)
If you look close enough you can see a lot of the landmarks.

Some pics from inside the house

They believe this to be the first person buried there.
The Kennedys

Changing of the guards for the unknown soldier.

Seriously one of the coolest things to see. I have never seen so many high school kids able to be quiet to witness something - ever.

Back to the house and ready to call it a night. Thanks so much Erin and Jared for letting us come and stay with you. We were able to see so many things and do so much out there because of you guys! It means more to us than you know. Hopefully we can do it again :0)

We have sooo many more pictures so plan on a few more blogs.

6 Years

Written on the back of our receipt from our first date. Adrienne <3s Philip

May 26, 2005

6 years ago Philip and I went on our first date. Believe it or not that picture above is from our first date. Philip pulled up in my driveway to pick me up - looking super hot!We went to Chilis for dinner and Philip made fun of me the whole time for covering my mouth the whole time I ate and not eating that much. Nothing has really changed with him since our first date - still talks and texts on his phone the whole time we're out to eat. jk babe.. I love you!

Anyway. Philip came home from work and talked me into going to Chilis in memory of our first date. The minute he walked in the door he rushed into our bedroom and told me he had to change because it was so hot outside (I was thinking he was crazy- not very hot outside). After a few minutes he came out of our bedroom wearing the EXACT same outfit he wore on our first date! I was laughing so hard. So glad that I married someone who can make me laugh no matter what. Even if I am super mad - he always brings a smile to my face. I love you babe and I'm so glad that 6 years ago I agreed to go out with you!

Home Sweet Home

Can't believe that one year ago we became home owners! I love our house and how perfect it is for us! Some people go their whole life without owning a home and we started our marriage out with one. We may complain about things breaking or money we have to spend on things but we wouldn't have it any other way. Really, we are so lucky to own 1617 and are blessed that we have a home we can grow with.

Mother's Day

My mom is seriously the best mom around! I am so thankful to have her in my life and I can honestly say I don't know where I'd be without her! I have NEVER met someone as strong as my mom. My mom fought breast cancer and won. My mom lost my pop and still is the strongest person I know. She teaches me everyday how important life is and to never take anything for granted. I love you so much mom! Hope you have the best day ever. Thanks for making the the person I am today!

What's a blog?

Man! I feel like most days I forget I have a blog.. Not because I don't enjoy blogging, but simply because I don't have time. I have so many things to catch up on - like Easter, soccer games, our trip to DC, and so much more. Hopefully next week I can start being a better blogger..

You ask. Why next week? BECAUSE I GOT A NEW JOB!!! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am for this new position! I'll be back on day shift first of all- I can't wait to come home and spend time with Philip. It will be so weird to see him Monday through Thursday again. To be able to have dinner together and everything else.

Getting jobs internally at the IRS is really hard. You wouldn't think it was but SO many people apply. A lot of people just want to move up in their career and others just want a permanent position to call home. I don't blame them. I could NEVER work as a seasonal employee! To know that I was chose for this position above TONS of other people just makes me feel good.

May 9 can't come fast enough! I'm ready to start the job!
