Crafty Christmas

Every year at work each team gets together to make a basket (or other miscellaneous things) full of different things so that it can be bid on for charity. This year somehow I got tricked into making a wreath with gift cards to random food places.  A "Food For Thought" wreath.

Here's a picture of the wreath before I added the gift cards in. I don't really think the picture does the wreath justice. It turned out so cute! It's amazing what $25 at Hobby Lobby can do.
Picture is from my phone so it's not very good quality

I added on some fake gift cards of the different food places my team pitched in to buy gift cards to and this is the final project. I'm a little bummed that I didn't make this wreath for our house, but at least it's for a good cause and all of the money that people spend to bid on our wreath will be going to charity. Who knows maybe I'll put in a bid and bring it home? (Most likely not, I've never won before haha)

Sandy's Shower

My sister Sandy is having a baby and I seriously couldn't be more excited to have another nephew join the family! My sister is due Sept 1 and I can't wait to meet her little man! A couple weekends ago my family got together and threw a baby shower to help my sister get ready for the baby. I should've taken some pictures of the cute nursery that she has put together. It's adorable. Here are some pictures from the shower...

Sandy's diaper cake- turned out so cute!

Sneak peek!

Next weekend we're throwing my older sister Sandy a safari themed baby shower. Being the amazing sister that I am, I made a cute banner to go along with all the decorations for the party. Hope everyone likes it. This isn't the best picture, but it will have to do. I couldn't fit the whole thing in a picture otherwise.

P.S. It will be hanging on a string-banner style- at the shower. Right now I'm just letting all the glue dry until I put it on the string. I'll post pictures of it hanging up after the shower.

Cake pops..

This year for our church bake off I made cake pops. They're super fun and pretty easy to make. I made mine into little footballs and I must say they were a hit!

Happy, happy birthday!

This is the week of birthdays in my family. My mom's is Oct 3, mine is Oct 6, and my brother John's is Oct 7. So to say the least it's a super busy week, but I love it. Sunday we celebrated my cute mom's birthday. Let me tell you about my mom. When I was 4 years old my mom found out she had breast cancer. Instead of giving up, she fought and she fought hard. She wanted to make sure that she was always there for her family. I will never forget that time in my life, I look at my mom now and I am SO proud to call her my mom. She has been so amazing in so many ways. She helped me to go to school, she helped me to move out on to my own, she helped me plan the most important day of my life (so far) and she has helped me with so much more. My mom is always there to talk and to listen. She gives some of the best advice I've ever received and have I mentioned how amazing of a cook she is? She is the best cook ever. I love you mom! Thank you for everything you have and will do for me in the future. I am so glad to be able to call you my mom and more importantly to call you my best friend.

For my mom's birthday she wanted something more than money can buy. Awhile ago I started making a craft for her that I had yet to finish. I needed more than one person to accomplish it and never really found time, but my mom said that was the one thing she wanted done and finished for her birthday. So after church we went to her house and I began crafting and finishing up my project. After a few hours and a lot of stressing about getting things perfect we had an end project and I think it looks AMAZING!

The letters on the way just have ribbon behind them to look like they're hanging up. All the surrounding pictures are our family pictures we had done in January. Up to that day I had never been in a formal family picture (shows you how outdated our old ones were). I know this isn't the best picture, it was taken with my phone but I think it gives you a good idea. Thanks also to my hubby for helping to hang the pictures. He was such a champ and measured everything to make sure it was exact!

I am so lucky to have the family, friends, and husband in my life that I do. I love you all and couldn't ask for a better way to bring in turning 23!
